I really appreciate that with such a large group of musicians the overall sound and experience of listening is really spacious, never cluttered. The lovely recording helps that a lot, and of course the compositional aspects that make it breathe are superb- it gets more and more fun as I listen again and again. Jasper Skydecker

This is a album I've gone back to several times. Matt lets his group play, and play they do. All of these pieces fell like full-group efforts, not written by a bassist to feature bass. Some songs feel driven, some searching, some making statements. Outstanding. Kenneth Pyron

What I like about all your work is the extent to which you seem to be simultaneously driven by the other. Plus there are sounds coming out of this saxophone that I don't usually hear. It's good to hear the air moving. Chant has some rhythmic manoeuvres I can't describe (? from poly to mono and ¿) but am listening to carefully in the hope that one day I will be able to. Andrew Webb
